This week the alumni office has had the arduous task of judging the Registry’s Annual Bake-off.
You may remember them for processing your application, sending you your transcript, or getting you your NUS card, but our lovely Registry team’s talents go far beyond that.
There were two or three delicious concoctions for us to judge every day, by scoring on appearance, aroma, complexity, taste and texture. We took our judging very seriously, and sometimes even went back for seconds, just to make sure. And to ensure there was no skulduggery, the identity of the bakers were withheld until the competition had ended, and the scores submitted.
After much deliberation we finally decided on the top prizes…
We went nutty for Student Records Administrator Alia Fair’s Orange and Pistachio cake, and so awarded her third place.
Second place went to Short Course Administrator, Jodie McIntosh-Shah, for absorbing us with her luxurious lemon sponge cake.
The standard of cake was so high this year that we struggled to choose just one winner, so we had to give the top prize to two entrants. A big congratulations to Lara Crawford, Student Finance Officer, for her zesty Lemon Drizzle Cake, and to Clare MacDonald, Admissions Administrator, for her mouth-watering white chocolate and raspberry shortcakes.
We hope we get the pleasure of judging next year’s bake-off!
