Luis Guerra and Paul Mee run 2018 London Marathon for LSHTM

MSc Public Health alumnus Luis Guerra and Epidemiologist and Data Scientist at LSHTM Dr Paul Mee ran the 2018 London Marathon on 22 April to raise funds on behalf of the School.

Luis Guerra

LSHTM received a charity ballot place in the London Marathon this year, and after a competitive application process, Luis was chosen to run to raise funds for LSHTM Scholarships for future public health leaders who otherwise would not have the opportunity to study at the School.

Paul Mee was running the marathon for LSHTM for the second year in a row to raise funds once again for the Stephen Lawn Memorial Fund. This fund was set up in 2016 to honour the life and work of our colleague and friend Professor Steve Lawn who died from a brain tumour in September 2016. Money raised by the fund is used to provide an annual lecture by a leading authority in TB and a monetary prize for an upcoming researcher. You can view the memorial lectures from 2017 and 2018 on the TB Centre website.

Dr Paul Mee

Thanks to the generous donations from friends, family, colleagues and LSHTM supporters, Paul and Luis collectively raised over £2,000!

It is still possible to make a donation to support LSHTM scholarships via Luis Guerra’s JustGiving Page, or the Stephen Lawn Memorial fund via Paul Mee’s JustGiving Page.

We really appreciate the time and commitment that Luis and Paul have given to raise funds for the School, as well as the generosity of everyone who kindly supported them with encouragement or donations. Thank you!
