On Friday 11 May 2018 we had a special event at the School to celebrate the 20th anniversary of LSHTM’s Diploma in Tropical Nursing (DTN) programme and the enormous contribution nurses make to Global Health. The celebration consisted of six TED-x style talks and special presentations from alumni and the DTN Course Director: Dame Claire Bertschinger DBE, DL, DEd, DSSc, DSc (honoris causa), MSc, RGN followed by a networking reception.

Jose Gilday is currently a nurse advisor for Medecins Sans Frontieres researching the challenges of safe nurse staffing in MSF contexts.
Michael Shek is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, having worked with Medicins Sans Frontieres in South Sudan, Search and Rescue in the Mediterranean and Syria.
Marcus Wootton currently works for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health supporting programmes in Myanmar and Cambodia.
Katie Beck is the Medical Coordination Manager at Raleigh International.
Dr Maggie Burgess is a part time lecturer at LSHTM, she is also the founder of Promise Nepal, a charity dedicated to eliminating leprosy in Nepal.
