School Director, Professor Peter Piot, visited Japan last month to collect the Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize for Medical Research. The prize was awarded by the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, on 1 June – the opening day of the 5th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V).
Dr. Tanya Marchant, member of the LSHTM Centre for Evaluation and the IDEAS project, will be presenting her work on measuring skilled attendance at birth using linked household, health facility and health worker surveys in Ethiopia, North-East Nigeria, and Uttar Pradesh, India at the Global Health Metrics and Evaluation Conference, Seattle.
