Dr. Kenneth Ssebambulidde, IDI Uganda
MSc Immunology of Infectious Diseases
September 2018 – September 2019
Dr. Kenneth Ssebambulidde undertook an MSc in Immunology of Infectious Diseases at LSHTM from September 2018 – September 2019. Kenneth was employed at IDI Uganda in Kampala from early 2017 prior to taking a year out, and has since returned to resume his position as a Study Doctor. This role includes a few months working as part of the AMBITION team in Kampala.
“Immunology is a fascinating science. Over these twelve months, I hope to acquire a knowledge base on how immune cells respond to infectious disease-causing microorganisms. With mentorship from the AMBITION Immunology Working Group, I hope to contribute to the understanding of immune responses in cryptococcal meningitis. The feeling is mind-blowing. Keep an eye out!”
Post-MSc Video Update
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Kenneth, our LSHTM alumnus from the class of 2018-19, on receiving a distinction in his MSc in Immunology of Infectious Diseases. It will come as no surprise that Kenneth worked extremely hard whilst completing his MSc at LSHTM, and we are thrilled that all his efforts have paid off.
Kenneth recently presented the results of his MSc thesis at the International Union of Immunological Societies training week in Benin in November 2019, and went on to win first prize in the poster competition! Pictures to follow!
We are delighted that Kenneth is doing so well. He recently took a few moments out from his busy schedule to record a video update of his return to IDI and the subsequent projects in which he has been involved with since concluding his MSc studies in September. Check it out below!
Kenneth headed back to London in February 2020: to attend the graduation ceremony to receive his distinction in MSc in Immunology of Infectious Diseases. The ceremony took place at Friends House in Euston on Thursday 20 February.
As you can see, it was a lovely day marking the great achievements of the class of 2018-19.
Congratulations once again, Kenneth—we are very happy to have been able to celebrate the day with you!
