Matt Rogers<\/a> and I ran our annual research workshop for first-year A-level students on 28-29th June. This time students from St Thomas the Apostle School and 6th Form College<\/span><\/a> joined fellow students from Dulwich College<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All told, we had 15 enthusiastic students in the lab for two days of experiments and talks. On day-one, they set up restriction digests, ran PCRs and looked at the results on agarose gels. Day-two started with a trip to the microscopy facility to check out our green fluorescent trypanosomes. The day ended with a session learning how to dissect sandflies, an essential skill if you want to track a parasite’s progress through its insect vector!<\/p>\n
