It is with great sadness that we share news that our colleague Dr Adrian Root, Research Fellow in Epidemiology and PhD candidate here at the School, has died of cancer.
Adrian was a GP who came to the School to study the MSc in Epidemiology, which he completed in 2013. He was awarded an MRC Population Health Scientist Fellowship to pursue a PhD, which is testament to his talent as a researcher. Adrian was working on his PhD under the supervision of Dr Ian Douglas and Prof Liam Smeeth, looking at the population impact of drug-drug interactions in primary care. He was a member of the Electronic Health Records Research Group and ran the LSHTM choir.
As well as a valued researcher, Adrian was also a well-regarded teacher, teaching on the short course in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance, and on the Statistical Methods in Epidemiology MSc module.
Adrian was a much loved and respected colleague and he will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with his family and friends.
