MSc Health Policy Planning & Financing (2007) alumna, Anne Stevenson got in touch with the Alumni Office to give a career talk to current students after seeing the Career Talks article in the Alumni News annual magazine. Anne spoke about changing career paths from being a teacher, to working in radio, and currently working in public health. She spoke about the importance of having transferable skills when transitioning between fields, and how working in research without having a PhD has not affected her career opportunities.
In the 2017 autumn term we had a number of other alumni come back to the School to give career talks. We welcomed MSc Epidemiology (1983) James Cherry, Professor of Paediatrics at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA; Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (2016), Alex Kumar, Academic Clinical Fellow; MSc Molecular Biology of Infectious Disease (2004), Charles Ebikeme, Science Officer at the International Council for Science; Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (1993) alumnus, Ben Marshall, Lead Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine.
You can view some of the career talks on the LSHTM YouTube Channel.
Students really appreciate alumni coming back to the School to talk about their careers. If you would like to give a career talk to current students, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
