Today marks the start of the\u00a0Fourth Global Symposium on Health Systems Research<\/a>; a wonderful and also challenging programme<\/a> addressing the theme of \u2018Resilient and responsive health systems for a changing world\u2019 from 14-18th<\/sup> November in Vancouver, Canada. This conference is hosted by Health Systems Global.<\/p>\n

\"capture-virginia\"\"capture_sandra\" With both of our editors-in-chief, Sandra Mounier-Jack and Virginia Wiseman, and many of our section editors in attendance, Health Policy and Planning<\/em> (HPP) have several activities and resources to point to, taking place in honour of this week\u2019s theme and beyond:<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong>First and foremost- we\u00a0have published an essential pre-read conference article collection relating to (and divided by) the individual sub-themes of this year\u2019s conference: http:\/\/bit.ly\/2faMxVJ<\/a><\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Health Systems Global,\u00a0in partnership with\u00a0Health Policy and Planning<\/em>\u00a0and with\u00a0financial support\u00a0from\u00a0International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Canada<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0is pleased to announce a\u00a0call for papers on the theme of the conference \u2018Resilient and responsive health systems for a changing world\u2019. This call is intended for those who have submitted conference abstracts and\/or presentations for the HSG symposium.\u00a0 Accepted papers will be published as a special journal supplement during 2017 and papers that receive positive reviews but are not deemed suitable for this supplement may also be considered for individual publication. 3.<\/strong> Health Policy and Planning<\/em> is also hosting a joint event<\/a> with LSHTM Alumni\u2019s network at the Cactus Club Caf\u00e9 on Thursday 17th<\/sup> November 5.30-7.30pm (drinks and snacks included) in order to provide official thanks and acknowledgement to all of our 2015\/6 reviewers! As well as to announce our early career professional award for 2016. The early career professional award involves Health Policy and Planning<\/em> section editors training early career professionals in how to process a manuscript, invite relevant and non-conflicting reviewers and to ultimately make independent decisions on whether or not a paper is of a certain standard for publication in a journal. This is part of our efforts to engage with the up and coming researchers in the field.<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> Finally, our co-editor-in-chief, Dr Virginia Wiseman will also be on the panel of a session on Friday 18th<\/sup> November in Rm 19 on \u2018Meet the Editors: Opportunities and challenges in publishing Health Policy and Systems Research\u2019, discussing opportunities, challenges and emerging trends. Please feel free to attend and ask any questions you may have.<\/p>\n
