Powering eye health services<\/p>\n

In 2012, while working on a research project at ICEH, Professor Andrew Bastawrous needed to get\u00a0state of the art hospital-based equipment\u00a0to\u00a0100 different locations throughout rural Kenya. The ensuing logistical headache provided the motivation to search for a better way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That idea developed into Peek Vision, a social enterprise that provides technological solutions to eyecare services in lower and middle-income countries. Their solutions, including smartphone vision screening tools and health system software, allow services to design their programmes effectively and optimise them with the data they create.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By democratising the tools needed to improve services, Peek helps to overcome a lack of resources or reduced capacity to create better eye health for all.<\/p>\n

As of the end of 2024, Peek Vision have allowed more than one million people to receive care for an eye condition.<\/p>\n
