{"id":1530,"date":"2015-03-13T16:46:23","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T16:46:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/?p=1530"},"modified":"2016-10-14T15:05:35","modified_gmt":"2016-10-14T15:05:35","slug":"increased-rcuk-block-grant-for-20152016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/2015\/03\/13\/increased-rcuk-block-grant-for-20152016\/","title":{"rendered":"Increased RCUK block grant for 2015\/2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Research Councils UK (RCUK) has recently\u00a0<a title=\"RCUK announces 2015\/16 Block Grant for Open Access\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rcuk.ac.uk\/media\/announcements\/150305\/\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a> the amounts that it will be paying to institutions in the block grant to support the implementation of its open access policy. Since April 2013 the grant to universities and eligible research organisations has been used to cover the cost of article processing charges (APCs). 2013\/14 and 2014\/15 financial years the grant paid for <a title=\"lock grant amounts by institutions for the 2013\/14 and 2014\/15 financial years\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rcuk.ac.uk\/RCUK-prod\/assets\/documents\/documents\/RCUK_APCfundDistribution.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">68 journal articles<\/a> at the School. For 2015\/16 the RCUK will make available a total of \u00a322.6 million, and the School has received a 5% increase in the amount it has received compared to last year. In 2013\/14 the amount was \u00a396,466, in 2014\/15 it was \u00a3113,489 and for 2015\/16 it is <strong>\u00a3129,512<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the modest size of the School compared to other research-intensive universities, the amount received is very favourable.
