We will choose items that reflect events, news, or themes of the month. This month we have chosen the School\u2019s Charter of Incorporation, which was given the Royal approval by H.M. King George V on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> of April 1924.<\/p>\n<p>This document is a significant part of the School\u2019s history as it marks its departure from the Seamen\u2019s Hospital Society to become the London School of Hygiene &amp; Tropical Medicine. The charter was also able to meet the recommendation made in the Athlone Report, published in May 1921, that suggested that \u2018An institute of State Medicine should be established by the University of London in which instruction should be given in Public Health\u2026\u2019 was needed;
