Anthea finished her cake with white icing, rose petals and citrus sugar shards (it must be noted that the cake was still warm, perfect for a cold day).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3216\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3216\" class=\"wp-image-3216 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/files\/2016\/11\/Presentation1-e1480084628412-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Second Prize Winner Isobel Stanley's Ginger Bread\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/files\/2016\/11\/Presentation1-e1480084628412-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/files\/2016\/11\/Presentation1-e1480084628412-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/files\/2016\/11\/Presentation1-e1480084628412.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-3216\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Second Prize Winner Isobel Stanley&#8217;s Ginger Bread<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Second place, was held by student Isobel Stanley who created a delicate gingerbread, the judges commended Isobel on the authentic packaging and rich flavour.<\/p>\n<p>Staff and students aided in the clean-up operation, which saw no cakes go to waste!<\/p>\n<p>Keep an eye out for some of the entrant&#8217;s cake featuring in the Refectory menu in the near future, but if you can\u2019t wait till then to try some wartime recipes you can still download the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/files\/2016\/11\/Great-War-Bake-Off-Recipe-Booklet.pdf\">Great War Bake Off recipe booklet<\/a>.
