Winning Carrot Cake 2017<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Are your baking skills the best thing since sliced bread? Do you knead a reason to bake? Well doughnut stress the Great War Bake Off wants you!<\/p>\n

As part of Explore Your Archive<\/a> week, which runs nationally November 18th \u2013 26th, the Archives have delved into their Nutrition Collection and selected original Ministry of Food wartime recipes, as well as other First World War recipes, for you to bake.<\/p>\n

Bring your baked goods into School on Wednesday 22nd November for judging by our renowned and refined cake-tasters David Cole, Catering Manager, and Alan Dangour, Head of Nutrition Group.<\/p>\n

Prizes will be awarded to the best baker and one runner up. If you want your chance to be crowned Great War Baker of 2017 all you need to do now is follow these four steps:<\/p>\n

1. Download the Recipe Booklet<\/a>* or pick up a copy of our recipe booklet from the Library Desk. Alternatively, you can find your own recipe.
\n2. Register your interest<\/a> (you can register on the day too).
\n3. Choose your favourite wartime recipe and bake at home.
\n4. Last but not yeast, on Wednesday 22nd November, bring your baked goods to the Caf\u00e9 Space (the Lower Ground floor of the South Courtyard) where they will be displayed, judged, and tasted between 12.30 and 13.30.<\/p>\n

Staff and students will have the chance to sample all the cakes entered in the Bake Off!<\/p>\n

There will also be an archive display in the Caf\u00e9 Space showing more from the LSHTM Archive Nutrition Collection<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Please note that you will be required to bring a list indicating your ingredients for health and safety purposes.<\/strong><\/p>\n
