Maybe you already work in I.T. but are seeking a more challenging role where you can make a difference to society? A technical traineeship in digital archiving will give you a chance to earn while you learn the skills you\u2019ll need to apply for digital archives assistant job in one of the UK\u2019s many archives.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Bliss Regular';font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Bliss Regular';font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">There has never been a more exciting time for people with technical ability to join the archives sector. In this global age of information, archives entrusted with keeping safe historical records for future generations must adapt to the new challenge of preserving digital records and opening up their collections to worldwide audiences. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Bliss Regular';font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Bliss Regular';font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u2018Bridging the Digital Gap\u2019 is a Heritage Lottery funded training programme aimed at bringing technical people into the archives workforce. The 15-month placements start in October 2018 and offer a rewarding, practical alternative to the first year of university study. Trainees will be employed by the National Archives and can apply to work in a number of archives including the London School of Hygiene &amp; Tropical Medicine. Trainees will\u00a0benefit from learning alongside fellow trainees, online and in work-place activities. The closing date for applications is 17 August.
