The Library will remain open throughout this time, however there will be some disruption to study spaces and accessing the book collection.<\/p>\n<p>During the restoration the floors will be sanded back to the original cork tiles before being coated in a new finish. There will be some noise disruption, particularly during the sanding process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stage 1:<\/strong> <strong>Reading Room <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stage 1 should take approximately two weeks, starting on the 25<sup>th<\/sup> August. During this time there will be no access to the Reading Room or the books in this space. Library users will be able to use the Barnard Room or upstairs Wellcome Gallery group study space.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stage 2: Barnard Room<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stage 2 should take approximately two weeks, starting when the Reading Room has been completed. During this time there will be no access to the Barnard Room or the books in this space. Library users will be able to use the main Reading Room and upstairs Wellcome Gallery group study space.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accessing Books<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We would recommend that where possible you plan ahead and arrange to borrow any books you may need before the 25<sup>th<\/sup> August. Library Staff will be able to access the closed spaces at certain times in the restoration process. If you need access to a book during a room closure, please email \u00a0<a href=\"mailto:library@lshtm.ac.uk\">library@lshtm.ac.uk<\/a> and we will aim to get the book for you within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alternative Study Locations for staff and students<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you would prefer to study elsewhere, there are a number of other libraries in the vicinity of the School that LSHTM staff and students can use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Senate House Library: As a member of LSHTM, you can join Senate House Library for free. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senatehouselibrary.ac.uk\/membership\/online-pre-registration\">Pre-register online<\/a>, then take your School ID card to the Library reception on the 4<sup>th<\/sup> floor of Senate House. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senatehouselibrary.ac.uk\/visiting-the-library\/operating-hours\">Opening Hours<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>University of London libraries: You can access any University of London institution\u2019s libraries, e.g. UCL, SOAS, Birkbeck. You will need to take your School ID and may be asked to provide a photo, or other form of identification.
