{"id":6195,"date":"2019-04-25T10:43:57","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T10:43:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/?p=6195"},"modified":"2019-04-25T11:57:29","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T11:57:29","slug":"infoskills-lunchtime-sessions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/library\/2019\/04\/25\/infoskills-lunchtime-sessions\/","title":{"rendered":"InfoSkills: Literature Searching &#8211; Lunchtime Sessions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>1 hour InfoSkills Lunchtime sessions &#8211; book now!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>From May 14th to May 31st on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays &amp; Fridays (more sessions to be announced for June and July).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Book a place on any session at<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.do\/infoskills\">http:\/\/bit.do\/infoskills<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Constructing a Literature Search Strategy Part 1 &amp; Part 2&#8217; sessions are aimed at any MSc student who has not attended one of the 2\/3 hour long &#8216;Effective Literature Searching&#8217; sessions earlier in the year (or any student who did attend but wants to have a &#8216;refresher session&#8217;).<\/p>\n<p>These sessions are repeated on multiple days. You can choose to attend Part 1 and Part 2 on the same day as a two hour session or attend Part 1 on one day and then Part two on another day. Just choose whichever approach works best for your timetable!<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Finding Grey Literature&#8217; and &#8216;Accessing Data via the Library&#8217; sessions are aimed at any student who needs to find this type of information for their MSc Projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Lunchtime InfoSkills Sessions cover:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Constructing a Literature Search Strategy. Part 1<\/strong>: search concepts, search terms &amp; building your search\n<ul>\n<li>Selecting search concepts and developing comprehensive lists of keywords\/search terms<\/li>\n<li>Choosing the resources to search \u2013 going beyond Pubmed &amp; Google (OVID Medline will be the main database used in these sessions)<\/li>\n<li>Using Boolean logic to structure an effective search<\/li>\n<li>How to use search options including\u00a0truncation, wildcards and proximity searching\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Constructing a Literature Search Strategy. Part 2<\/strong>: subject headings, filters, transferring your search\n<ul>\n<li>Subject headings: what are they? Why do\u00a0you need to use them?
