DR ANGELA LOYSE

Dr Angela Loyse is an Infectious Diseases Clinician and Researcher in the fields of advanced AIDS disease. She has a particular interest in the links between clinical research and capacity building, implementation and research.

She is the Chief Investigator of the EDCTP-funded DREAMM (Driving Reduced AIDS-associated Meningo-encephalitis Mortality) study which aims to reduce the HIV-associated meningo encephalitis mortality in routine care.

Dr Loyse currently chairs an advocacy group (CryptoMAG in collaboration with Centres for Disease Prevention and Control) to improve access to essential antifungal treatments and diagnostic tests, working with partners from WHO, MSF, CHAI and other international organizations.

Dr Loyse has also played a key role in the recently completed ACTA Trial which influenced the new WHO guidelines for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cryptococcal disease in HIV-infected adults, adolescents and children.
