DR CECILIA KANYAMA
Dr Cecilia Kanyama is an internal medicine physician with a special interest in the improvement of diagnostic tests for HIV and associated conditions. She is a principal investigator for TB, Cryptococcal Meningitis and HIV treatment trials at UNC Project, where she works in collaboration with Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe. She has a particular interest in the management of cryptococcal disease in resource-limited settings. Having been the principal investigator in previous cryptococcal meningitis trials, she brings both clinical and research expertise in this field and is leading the clinical and operational aspects of the AMBITION Study in Lilongwe. She was recently part of a research team investigating cryptococcal meningitis – ACTA TRIAL. Their results prompted the World Health Organization to change its treatment guidelines.
