PROFESSOR MINA HOSSEINIPOUR
Mina Hosseinipour is a Professor of Medicine at the UNC-CH School of Medicine and the Scientific Director at the UNC Project in Lilongwe. She is an internal medicine and infectious diseases physician with research interests in the treatment of HIV and its complications, including opportunistic infections such as TB and Cryptococcal Meningitis. She is an investigator for the AMBITION study and will support research operations at the Lilongwe site and play an active role in the mentorship of junior investigators.
Professor Hosseinipour’s research interests are focused on the management of HIV disease in developing countries including prevention, interactions with endemic diseases, treatment of opportunistic infections including malignancies and monitoring strategies for antiretroviral therapy in this setting. The evaluation of the use of antiretroviral therapy as HIV prevention is one of the primary objectives of her research.
