Book Display: Eating Disorders Awareness Week (24 February – 2 March 2025)

Eating Disorders Can Affect Anyone

“Eating Disorders Can Affect Anyone” is the theme of this year’s Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW), taking place in the UK from Monday, 24 February to Sunday, 2 March 2025. EDAW is an annual campaign dedicated to raising awareness, challenging misconceptions, and advocating for improved support for individuals affected by eating disorders.

It is estimated that over 1.25 million people in the UK are currently living with an eating disorder, equating to more than 1 in 50 individuals (source: Beat’s official website). Despite these figures, stereotypes and misconceptions persist, and many people with an eating disorder fear stigma, which may prevent them from seeking early treatment and support.

This year’s campaign aims to promote a more inclusive understanding of eating disorders, whilst encouraging those affected to seek help promptly by emphasising that eating disorders can affect anyone, at any stage of life.

Explore Our Library’s Book Display

To support EDAW, we’ve curated a special book display featuring a selection of books and e-books on eating disorders. These cover a wide range of topics, including treatment and interventions, nutrition and diet, cultural, environmental, and sociopolitical perspectives, to mention a few.

Visit the library to explore these resources and gain a deeper understanding of eating disorders.
