Astrid is a Research Assistant in the Department of Disease Control. She works in Pan-African Malaria Vector Research Consortium (PAMVERC), an alliance that collaborates with east and west African research institutes and trial sites for evaluation of insecticides and vector control tools. She’s primarily based in Muheza, Tanzania, where she manages a phase III indoor residual spraying trial, evaluating novel insecticides for malaria vector control.

After completing an BSc in Biomedical Sciences, Astrid worked with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders on innovative approaches to data collection in emergency settings. She holds an MSc in Medical Entomology for Disease Control from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and for her MSc Thesis (2017) she focused on evaluating infestation and insecticide resistance levels in tropical bed bugs in North-West Tanzania.
