Green Libraries Week 2026: Climate facts for a greener future

Green Libraries Week was on 21st – 28th October 2026, the LSHTM Library has a book display up highlighting items in the collection around the issues of sustainability, the environment and climate.

21–28 October 2026

Green Libraries Week is here, we are celebrating the role of libraries in promoting environmental awareness, sustainability and climate action.

This year’s theme is “Climate Facts for a Greener Future: Navigating Mis- and Disinformation in Libraries”, highlighting the important role libraries play in helping people find reliable information, evaluate evidence and navigate misleading claims about climate change.

Climate change and environmental sustainability are closely connected to public and global health. From the effects of extreme weather and pollution to access to clean water, sustainable healthcare and healthy living environments, these issues have significant implications for communities around the world.

Our Green Libraries Week book display

We have a display in the LSHTM Library Reading Room featuring a selection of books from our collection exploring climate change, the environment, sustainability and their connections with human health. The display brings together a range of subjects, including planetary health, sustainable sanitation, environmental health, climate change law and greener healthcare practices.

Alongside our print collection, we have also highlighted three Open Access eBooks which connect more directly with this year’s theme:

Climate Obstruction Across Europe, edited by Robert J. Brulle, J. Timmons Roberts and Miranda C. Spencer, examines efforts to obstruct climate action across European countries.

Climate Change Denial and Public Relations: Strategic Communication and Interest Groups in Climate Inaction, edited by Núria Almiron and Jordi Xifra, explores the relationship between public relations, interest groups and climate change denial.

Climate Politics in Populist Times: Climate Change Communication Strategies in Germany, Spain, and Austria, by Mirjam Gruber, considers how climate change is communicated and discussed within different political contexts.

QR codes are provided on the display to help visitors access these electronic resources.

We have also included an information poster from the European Commission’s #ClimateFactsMatter campaign, offering practical advice on recognising potentially misleading climate information online and checking sources before sharing.
