According to the World Health Organization (https://www.who.int/campaigns/world-immunization-week/2025), immunization accounts for 40% of the improvement in infant survival over the last 50 years. The slogan for this year’s campaign is “Immunization for all is Humanly Possible”
Despite major achievements such as the elimination of polio and smallpox, there are a number of socio-political factors mitigating against further development of immunization programmes to tackle new public health challenges, hence the need for the campaign.
We have assembled a range of titles from our collections on different aspects of immunization and vaccination : technical, immunological, historical and socio-political. These are on display in the Reading Room.
