Book display for Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

Mental Health Awareness Week : Book Display

In support of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 (11-17 May) ( Mental Health Awareness Week), we have assembled a display of books from our collection, written from a variety of view points such as self awareness, health promotion and policy. They may be found on the long table at the far side of the Reading Room.

There is a report from the Government Office for Science: “Mental capital and wellbeing : making the most of ourselves in the 21st century ; final project report – London : Foresight Mental Health and Wellbeing Project, 2008. (UJ.S.AC)” The project examined the factors that influence an individual’s mental development from conception until death and analysed possible future interventions to address future challenges in the UK. There is also “Essentials of global mental health / edited by S.O. Okpaku – Cambridge : CUP, 2014 (UJ.S)” , looking at the global burden of mental illness and evidence-based approaches to mental health care. In contrast is “The wounded storyteller – 2nd edition / by Arthur W. Frank – Chicago & London : Chicago University Press, 2013 (UJBM)”, written from a discourse analysis point of view. These are just 3 titles from the many on display.

The MSc in Global Mental Health has been running since 2014. If you would like to see the dissertations from this course, follow this link Ex Libris Discovery – msc global mental health. Please note that access to full text is limited to current staff and students.
