To promote Men’s Health Week (15th June – 21st June 2026), a number of books and pamphlets related to the subject have been complied and displayed in our reading room. This specific Men’s Health Week is about Men and the pharmacy. The organisers have also suggested sharing resources from previous years which discuss a diverse variety of topics. These include stress, diabetes, prostate health, mental health and Covid-19.
In the spirit of having a broad conversation about Men’s health we have collected a really varied selection of books and pamphlets encompassing different time periods. One particularly interesting pamphlet on hygiene, Cleanliness Pays: The Man’s Book of Health, was written by LSHTM’s own Andrew Balfour, who you may recognise from the plaque by the entrance to the school, and was published posthumously in 1939. Other books and pamphlets investigate the topic more broadly whilst some focus in on topics such as reproductive health and mental health.
